Understanding Attribution in Affiliate Marketing

Now that you have a better understanding of attribution, you might be wondering how you can make sure that you have the best attribution model in place for your affiliate program. To answer, we have 3 steps to follow that may help.

  1. Analyze your affiliate program data to determine which partners provide what kind of value. Who assists conversions and who closes them?
  2. Based on your findings, construct the most suitable commission attribution model for your program. Test it by creating projections of which partners would get what kind of commission, and what your overall costs would be. Adjust if needed.
  3. Roll out the commission attribution model to your affiliate partners. Make sure to explain how it benefits them and re-evaluate in a few months.
